What this site is
Franz Josef Helicopter is an independent guide to helicopter tours at Franz Josef Glacier, New Zealand. We are not a tour operator, a travel agent or a booking platform. We do not own aircraft, we do not employ pilots, and we cannot put you on a flight.
What we do is narrower and, we think, more useful: we track every helicopter tour bookable from Franz Josef, compare them honestly, and explain the things that are easy to get wrong — which duration is worth the money, which slots sell out, what happens at the weigh-in, and why the flight never passes directly over the rock.
Where our numbers come from
Every price, rating and review count on this site is copied from the operator’s own live listing on the day we checked it. We do not estimate, round or reuse figures from other websites.
- Prices are verified quarterly and each page carries the date it was last checked. If a date looks stale, treat the figure as indicative and confirm it in the booking system.
- Ratings and review counts are aggregates shown as the operator publishes them. We do not reprint individual reviews and we never write our own.
- Availability labels such as “Likely to sell out” are the operator’s own, not our invention.
- Facts about the park — departure points, durations, doors-off policy and cancellation rules — come from the operators’ own published listings.
What we will not do
These are rules we set for ourselves before the site went live, and they are the reason some things you see on competing sites are missing here.
- No invented reviews, names or testimonials. Not one word on this site is attributed to a traveller who did not write it.
- No fake urgency. When we say a flight sells out, it is because the operator’s listing says so.
- No paid placement. Nobody can buy a better position, a badge or a recommendation here. The 25-minute flight is our top pick because it is the shortest flight covering both formations, and for no other reason.
- No invented credentials. We do not claim awards, partnerships or an operating history we do not have.
How we are paid
When you book through a link on this site, we may receive a commission from GetYourGuide. You pay exactly the same price either way — the commission comes out of the platform’s margin, not your fare. This is the only way the site earns anything, which is why we would rather send you to the right flight once than to the wrong flight three times.

Corrections
If a price has moved, a flight has been withdrawn or something here is simply wrong, tell us and we will fix it and re-date the page. Getting this right is the entire value of the site.
